So, if you are worried about whether stress will keep you from enjoying a vacation with your kids, you have to find ways to keep that stress minimal. That may sound like a challenge, but with a few travel essentials, like the ones below, you can prevent travel stress from ruining your family vacation.

Wireless Internet

Having the internet is a must for long road trips, especially when your kids are along for the ride. If your car has the capability, consider connecting it to wireless internet before you set off on your big family adventure.  With your very own hotspot in the car, your entire family will be able to stream movies, television, games, and music without annoying interruptions.

Tablets or Smartphones

Don’t have a tablet or smartphone for your children? Well, you may want to consider getting one, especially since you may be using your own phones for navigation and other travel needs. Thankfully, you can find age-appropriate tablets that will fit any budget and kid-friendly phones. That way, you won’t have to give up your phone or worry about your kids damaging it in the car.

Handy Travel Apps

Speaking of smartphones, if you plan on traveling with a baby, you may want to consider downloading white noise apps to keep your little one calm and sleepy. Some apps even start playing when they detect crying so you won’t have to stress if your baby gets upset. While you are downloading helpful apps, be sure to check out some useful travel apps for your phone.

Portable Chargers

Having a tablet or phone can keep tools and entertainment at your fingertips when you are traveling with your family. However, you need to keep those devices charged in order to take advantage of these useful features. Keeping a couple of car chargers on hand can help out but if you plan on bringing multiple devices along, you may also want to buy a portable charger. That way you won’t need to worry about finding extra outlets for extra devices in your car.

Healthy Snacks

Car-friendly entertainment is a must for parents who want to keep their travels free of added stress, but snacks can be important too. Because a hungry child can be a fussy child, you should keep travel snacks in your car and don’t worry about buying separate options for older kids, since they’ll love these snacks as well. If you plan on flying, you can also bring snacks, but just make sure that any foods packed in your carry-on bag meet TSA rules and regulations.

A Family First-Aid Kit

Cuts, bruises, and bug bites can also make little ones cranky. They can also be tough to deal with if you don’t have the right first aid supplies. As you prep your travel shopping list, be sure to include some first-aid essentials to keep in your car or luggage. Bandages, Band-Aids, and ointment are a must, but also include some basic medications for both children and adults. Pain relievers, antihistamines, and antacids are all safe bets for your travel first aid kit.

Travel Safety Tips

Last but certainly not least, if you don’t want your fun family vacation to turn into a super stressful disaster, you need to keep some travel safety tips in mind. Teach your children to be mindful of their surroundings and keep tabs on your kids at all times. This is especially important for smaller children, who can easily wander off and end up in dangerous situations. It’s also especially important if you plan on spending any time outside or around animals. Also, be sure to go over your travel safety rules with kids so that they are prepared for emergencies.

Traveling with children, especially smaller children or a large family, is always going to be a little stressful. As a parent, you can’t help but worry about your children’s health, safety, and happiness. However, you can help yourself from stressing out over little things on your family vacation by making sure you have the essentials above packed and ready.]]>Wed, 15 Mar 2017 18:06:49 GMThttp://www.babybackups.com/blog/babybackups-work-on-cloth-diapers-tooThe parents over at Little Gummi are known for testing out the hottest new products on the market, and they were eager to try BabyBackups. Even being avid users of cloth diapers, they've experienced their fair share of leakage - both out the front and the back. Their youngest son, Miller, was especially talented in testing the limits of his cloth diapers, so they immediately put BabyBackups to the test on him. They used BabyBackups in the front of his cloth diaper overnight, and in the morning they picked up a dry and happy baby.

We've heard similar stories from other parents who have experienced front and rear leakage from their cloth diapers, even though they tend to only whisper such comments outside of the inner cloth circle :) That's okay, we think cloth diapering is great, but we also know that whether cloth or disposable, all diapers still need a little help when it comes to leakage.

As I recently told a reporter from Rodman Media, we are extremely excited and honored to be a finalist for this award.  To be recognized by INDA, and grouped with brands such as Always, makes us feel like we've already won.

So, off to the ABC Kids Expo October 18-21 and then to the Hygienix Conference the following week.

Exciting times!

Stop by our display if you're there and take advantage of our MOABS special - one BabyBackups 25 pack and one BabyBackups Travel Bag, all for $8!  Heck, I'd pay more than that if it prevented me from having to clean up after even just one diaper blowout!]]>Wed, 04 Mar 2015 03:42:54 GMThttp://www.babybackups.com/blog/march-03rd-2015We've been meaning to add a blog to the site for a while now, but life got in the way.  As some of you know, we had baby D number 3 in September, so things have been a bit hectic to say the least.  There are a lot of things going on right now, but sleep is not really one of them.  Number 3 (aka Blake) is a great little baby, but he doesn't like to sleep for long periods of time at night yet.  So, we find ourselves trying to convince the other at 2AM that it's their turn to make the rounds.  While I was on post the other night, I had to change Blake's diaper in my half-sleep state, and it made me think of some late-night diapering tips that we posted awhile back.  I hope these help you in your late night adventures.

1. Set the mood. Don’t startle your little bundle of joy in the middle of the night by turning on a bright light to change a diaper. Use a low wattage blue light bulb instead of a white light bulb to keep the room darker. It provides enough light to let you do what you need to do but doesn’t trigger party time for your baby.

2. Keep them occupied. Keep a special toy nearby to let your child play with while changing their diaper. Keeping them focused, even for just 30 seconds, will allow you to at least get them cleaned off and ready for a new diaper.

3. Wrap the wrap. Lay a new diaper under the old diaper before changing it. In the event that you missed a spot on her little tush while wiping it, the mess will end up on the new diaper instead of the changing area.

4. Keep those buns warm. Use a wipes warmer so that you’re not freezing your little one’s tush in the middle of the night. Think about flying first class. Being handed a cold towel to wipe your hands doesn’t sound nearly as appealing as a toasty one. Similarly, a calm baby is much easier to clean and change using a warm wipe than using a freezing cold one on his behind.

5. Avoid a tinkle fountain from your little guy. Forget the teepee, keep a cloth diaper around the changing table so that you can quickly toss it over your little guy’s privates if he starts to let loose. Or simply use a wipe.

6. Keep the mess where it belongs. Protect your baby, their clothes, and the changing table from messy diaper blowouts by using BabyBackups. Put one on at night and wake up to a clean baby and crib in the morning, even if your little one was trying to work one out while in dreamland! Plan ahead and apply a few BabyBackups to new diapers in advance so you’re always prepared.
